Lake in the Hills police are investigating the deaths of three people in what police said appears to be an isolated incident.
About 2:55 p.m. Tuesday, Lake in the Hills police and Huntley Fire Department personnel were called to the 2300 block of Daybreak Drive, according to a news release from Lake in the Hills police.
Three people were found dead inside, police said.
Crime tape surrounded the front and back of an attached townhouse on Daybreak Drive on Tuesday afternoon, and there were about a half-dozen Lake in the Hills police squad cars in the area. Neighbors peered out to try to find out what was happening.
Tuesday night, Jennifer Goodrich stood at her front doorstep next to the home under investigation. Goodrich said her daughter plays with a girl and boy who live next door.
The children are in third and sixth grades, Goodrich said, and live with their mother.
“You don’t know what’s going on in people’s lives,” Goodrich said. “… I feel bad for them.”
Marifi Ingalls, who lives across the street, said she’s seen school-aged children playing at the home.
“It’s a nice neighborhood,” Ingalls said of the Coventry subdivision.
Police could not immediately provide information on the age, gender or identity of the victims.
There is no known threat to public safety, police said, and the investigation is ongoing. Lake in the Hills Police Public Information Officer Amanda Schmitt could not confirm whether police were investigating the deaths as homicides.
Police said information will be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.
